Lavender Fields: Oltrepò in purple!

Provence? No, Oltrepò Pavese, in purple ! The hills of Oltrepò, at the beginning of summer, are tinged with this beautiful color, while the wind carries the scent of… lavender !

An absolutely unmistakable scent. We often find it in scented sachets for wardrobes, but immersing yourself and losing yourself in the fragrance of lavender flowers in the middle of a magnificent purple expanse is a whole other story!

This experience, gratifying for the eyes as well for the sense of smell, can be found in Oltrepò.

Two farmhouses on our hills, for example, are surrounded by their beautiful lavender fields.

The azienda Agricola Impoggio, in Borgoratto Mormorolo, is on top of a hill, in a central area of ​​Oltrepò Pavese.
The agriturismo Boccapane, by the other hand, is located almost on the border with Emilia Romagna.

The Azienda Agricola Impoggio started growing lavender 15 years ago – among the first in Oltrepò Pavese – and other crops, such as Goji Berries, Artichokes, Hazelnuts and various Aromatic Herbs.

It often organizes an educational tour that lasts about an hour and a half, to help you discover the varieties of lavender plants, 
as well as offering other interesting activities in contact with nature, suitable for everyone.

Did you know that lavender is also included in the Company’s Tasting menu? Yes, you can taste it in lavender panna cotta!
Not to mention all the benefits that lavender products provide for hair, skin and much more.
In fact, that’s not all. The Company also has a shop on the farm, for the direct sale of all its products derived from the processing of lavender, which is rigorously hand-picked.

There you can also buy honey and wine of their own production, as well as hazelnuts, liqueurs, jams: all produced by Certified Organic Farming.

Agriturismo Boccapane

If we move further east, we arrive at Colli Verdi, in the hamlet of Pometo. Having lunch or dinner at Agriturismo Boccapane also means enjoying the view of its beautiful lavender fields : they are right in front, inside the property, ready to be admired in the beautiful season.

It is a fantastic meadow as far as the eye can see: it almost seems like you are in front of a sea of ​​intense blue-violet color, behind which the green hills of the Oltrepò Pavese stand out.

The view is priceless, in addition to the exquisite dishes that can be enjoyed here, so much so that last autumn, this was one of the restaurants selected by Alessandro Borghese’s 4Ristoranti program.
