Once upon a time, in a village nestled in the green hills of Europe, there was a delicious alcoholic drink, fresh and tasty, which had a mission: to travel the world and make known that not only wine, but also beer , is the culture of good drinking.
Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, then North America and Latin American countries, Spain and even Italy.
These are some of the countries where beer has made its home.
As for Italy, beer also flows on the green hills of Oltrepò Pavese , a land historically known for the production of wines, which also gave rise to the production and distribution of beers.🍺
It’s not that widespread yet, but that just means there’s a lot of room for growth.
Oltrepò’s Brewery
A reality that fully believed in it is the Birrificio Oltrepò , founded 10 years ago, in 2014.
Where is it? In Valverde, a hamlet of the Municipality of Colliverdi, in the eastern Oltrepò Pavese.
Here the Master Brewers use local products to produce beers.
We are talking, of course, about craft beers , each of them with its own strong identity.

The flagship of the brewery is
Castana, a double malt beer with chestnut honey from the Valverde woods , which has received several awards.
Le Corti di Porana
If we move to Voghera , we find another brewery : Le Corti di Porana .

How many and what types of beers do its Master Brewers produce? Pilsners and then… you really have to go there, taste one of the craft beers produced, accompanied by a plate of delicacies.
Azienda Agricola Lodigiani
Let’s not forget about special products such as, for example, the pumpkin beer from the Azienda Agricola Lodigiani in Lungavilla .

Then a whole chapter opens on beer and food pairings: cheeses, pizzas and focaccias, sandwiches, white and red meats and even desserts!
A world to be discovered, taking advice from the Master Brewers of Oltrepò Pavese.
Who knows if over time we will be able to tell the story of the birth and growth of many other breweries in Oltrepò.
This is of course the wish, because beer is culture and when it comes to culture, the Oltrepò Pavese is never on the second plate.
