Bosnasco in mid-table

In the eastern part of the Oltrepò Pavese lies Bosasco, an intermediate area between the Po Valley and the hills and between the city of Pavia and the city of Piacenza.

The hamlet of Bosnasco
Near Bosnasco was also the small municipality of Sparano (or Spariano), known since the 10th century.
In 1816, it was merged with Bosnasco and is now a hamlet of Bosnasco.
Cardazzo: the hamlet with a customs past
Cardazzo is a very large hamlet of Bosnasco: a stone building that once served as a customs house still stands here.
Today it is sadly in disrepair, but it has the charm of a piece of history that tells of the area’s commercial past.
Cardazzo also offers good relief from the heat: Cardazzo Village is a sports centre with an outdoor swimming pool, with a pool for small swimmers with a slide and a larger pool.
During summer there is also a beach volleyball court, for the real beach types!

There is no shortage of dancing to the sounds of Caribbean music and entertainment.
Both the gym with various courses and the Children’s Recreational-Educational Centre, with themed workshops, swimming lessons, sports and a homework area with qualified educators, are open all year round.
Other smaller hamlets in the municipality of Bosnasco are Balanzine, Lupa, Torrone.
A history of battles and legends
⚔️ Bosnasco was a disputed land, the scene of ancient battles fought in the Middle Ages in these lands so coveted by the cities of Pavia and Piacenza. It is mentioned with the name Basonaxium in the 1250 list of the lands of the county of Pavia.
The charm of Palazzo Scarpa
In the heart of the village, near the church of San Lorenzo, stands the beautifully preserved 17th-century PalazzoScarpa-Colombi, with its stone tower, courtyard with porticoes and frescoes. It stands on the remains of an ancient castle, the last stronghold of the Pavian country before it came under Piacenza’s rule. Bosnasco and the vineyards
Despite the small size of the municipality, Bosnasco has a number of wineries.
Among the local producers:
- Possessione Sparano Capelli Vini: active since 1857 and produces natural wines from organic farming.
- Bricco dei Ronchi: in Sparano, with a very varied wine production.
The kitchen of Bosnasco
Those who put their money on cuisine can stop here:
LO restaurant, thoughtful restaurant in its décor, dishes, raw materials, presentation, wine list.
Ristorante la Buta: a cross between the menus of Oltrepadani and Piacenza, it is an elegant but traditional venue, also suitable as a wedding venue.
Locanda Merlino, to refresh you with traditional dishes.
By contrast, this is a farm that is also a workshop, shop and factory outlet: Azienda Agricola Puppo Stefano.
Between vineyards and plains, wines and good food, indoor and outdoor sports and wedding venues in Oltrepò Pavese, Bosnasco is another destination worth considering.
