Wine, the undisputed protagonist in Oltrepò Pavese

Wine in Oltrepò Pavese has always played a leading role, and with good reason, given the contribution in terms of quality and numerical production of this vast area.

Wine events

Many wine-related events take place throughout the year in the beautiful Oltrepò hills.

In Rovescala (PV), for example, every weekend in March the village is brightened up by the Primavera dei Vini, an event where many local labels can be tasted. These days are also suitable for families, as children’s workshops and shows are usually organised.

One of the most important events has always been Cantine Aperte. It is promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino (MTV), which has been guiding wine tourists and wine lovers to areas with excellent wine production since 1993.

From time to time, several wineries from our area have participated: producers from Borgo Priolo, Broni, Casteggio, Codevilla, Fortunago, Retorbido, Santa Giuletta and others.

What does Cantine Aperte consist of? In spring, wineries open their doors for guided tastings, vineyard tours and a chat with the producers themselves.
For 2025, the planned dates are May 24 and 25, although the list of participating wineries in Italy is still growing.

The ‘widespread’ wine tasting experience is offered again in autumn, usually from September to October, with Cantine Aperte in Vendemmia and then in early November, with Cantine Aperte in San Martino. The 2025 edition will last 11 days, fromNovember 1to 11 .

🥂 MTV also promotes another wonderful initiative between July and August: this is Calici di Stelle (Cups with Stars), one of the most highly anticipated wine and food events in the evening, where you can taste all the quality of the great Oltrepò Pavese wines , from sunset until late in the evening.

Each time, this popular event is held under the stars at certain locations in the hills or in the streets of the villages, for example, the castle of Cigognola, Certosa Cantù in Casteggio, or the municipality of Montalto Pavese, or the streets of Salice Terme.

🍇In September, Broni celebrates the grape harvest with the traditional Festa dell’Uva (Grape Festival), where wines and street food can be enjoyed.

Wine agreements 2025

The 2025 edition of the“Sabato del Vignaiolo” (Winegrowers’ Saturday) is scheduled for Saturday 10 May 2025, at the 100-year-old Tenuta Frecciarossa in Casteggio (PV). FIVI – Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti (Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers) wines from more than 30 producers from the area will be tasted.

🍾In Stradella (PV), May 24 and 25 will be a festive weekend with Bollicine in Fiore, a wine-food tour of 13 producers from Oltrepò Pavese and their sparkling wines.

On the weekend of 17 and 18 May 2025 , Santa Maria della Versa (PV) will host the opening of the first edition of ValVersa da Vivere, with tastings of local wines and 0km gourmet products (and entertainment with music and shows).

On June 8, 2025, however, it is the turn of BeviAMOntù, an extraordinary day of food and wine in Montù Beccaria (PV) with wines, street food, music and breathtaking views to admire.

San Damiano al Colle (PV) was the scene of Colli di Vino, an opportunity to taste many local wine labels along the streets of the historic centre, with street food and stalls selling typical Oltrepò products.
The date for 2025 was set for June 1.

This is certainly not the end of the story, with the huge production of wines we have in Oltrepò Pavese!

Another appointment for wine lovers is Saxbere. In the beautiful countryside of the village of Golferenzo (PV), the Saxbere Golferenzo association organises a series of events around wine throughout the summer.
For 2025, the dates are as follows:

21 June – The romantic night🌛
28 June – SaXbere 🍷
28 July – Convivium 🍽️
10 August – Il Borgo dei Desideri 🌠
