Olive Oil and the Oltrepò … probably few people know that in the Oltrepò olive oil is also produced .
Olive trees, as is known, are majestic and strong trees, which love the sun and do not fear drought, while they suffer from very low temperatures.
In the vast hilly territory of Oltrepo Pavese, largely exposed to the sun, in some areas the olive tree has taken root successfully, producing a delicate and tasty oil.
Where to find olive oil in Oltrepò Pavese?
In the Oltrepò Pavese the production of olive oil is a recent introduction. This is why to date there are not many who produce it systematically. Let’s mention some producers.
Finigeto is a winery in the Oltrepò Pavese. He has had an olive grove of 250 trees since 2015, from which he obtains a superior quality extra virgin olive oil. Its balance and fruity flavor make it ideal both for cooking and used raw. But be careful: the production of bottles is limited to approximately 700 bottles per year which are numbered.

In one of the wine tourism experiences of Finigeto, a tasting of Keolio oil is also proposed at the end.
Grapes and olives are clearly not comparable, but in the DNA of a winemaker as well as in that of an olive grower there is both the importance of hand-picking them at the right time , and the attention to the phase in which the liquid is extracted from the fruit, to then process it until obtaining the product that has the characteristics that are in mind and which is bottled for the consumer.
It should not be surprising, that some families of winemakers show interest and mastery in the production of extra virgin olive oil.
This is also the experience of another winery in Oltrepò Pavese, which has introduced the olive tree into its lands: Feudo Nico .
