Beer festival in Oltrepò Pavese
In Oltrepò Pavese, traditionally the land of wine? On these beautiful hills there is not only wine, but also beer – as we mentioned in one of our old articles – and in particular high-quality craft beers produced by the master brewers of the local breweries.
Where do you organise beer festivals in Oltrepò Pavese?
Last May, the Cowboys Guest Ranch in Voghera organised its own beer festival – the Beer Festival – with Italian and foreign beers, lots of music and typical ranch food.
In Corvino San Quirico en Fumo , the Beer Festival has become a tradition, an event looked forward to year after year, a celebration of beer, food and music for three days, from 17 to 19 July.
In Portalbera, the fun is on with Birraland, on 29 June, starting at 7pm. The name of the event says it all, with beer being the queen of the night!
Casteggio will be the scene of craft beer for two days , with the Craft Beer Fest on 4 and 5 July.
It is possible that other villages in the area will also host beer festivals.
Vivi Oltrepò will not fail to report from time to time on the festivals that will take place in Oltrepò Pavese, in this and future seasons of the year, on the events page. Stay tuned! 🤟
Beer
Why is beer so successful?
Tradition andconviviality: beer is always associated with festive moments and get-togethers. Without ever overdoing it with quantities, with full mugs and foam bringing joy, beer leads to conviviality, relaxation and enjoying the happy and carefree atmosphere of village festivals that sometimes fall on the day of the local patron saint.
The organisation is usually due to the efforts of the local Proloco.
🍽️Versatilità: beer goes well with many typical festival foods, such as grilled meats, sandwiches, piadinas, chips, olives ascolane and rustic dishes.
Price: beer is often cheaper than other drinks.
🌡️ Refreshing and thirst-quenching: especially in summer, a cool beer is really enjoyable.
Curiosity about beer
The origin of the word beer is interesting.
It came into the Italian language in the 16th century from the German word Bier, which in turn may come from the Vulgar Latin biber, i.e. bibita, drink.
However, the history of beer is much older, as the first production of beer dates back to Sumerian times.
White wheat beer, blonde, amber, red beer and dark beer: everyone has their favourite, waiting to be enjoyed at the next Festa della Birra in Oltrepò!
