What does it mean “biodynamic agriculture” ?
It refers to an agricultural production that is based on procedures in which – to simplify – the choices are dictated by the rhythms of nature. It is a philosophy that seeks the vital energies of the earth to support them.
An example that is often given is the harvest based on the lunar phases.
Among the objectives that biodynamics sets are those of using non-invasive practices to keep the land fertile and plants in good health, promoting the development of animal and plant biodiversity, as well as offering a product that is not chemically treated, therefore natural.
We do have biodynamic agriculture in the Oltrepò Pavese .
Azienda Andi
The Azienda Andi, for example, on its 7 hectares of vineyards carries out a production of natural wines , first through organic farming , then biodynamic farming and today also embraces experimental natural methods of organic farming .
There is a concept of circularity that therefore sees the use of self-produced microorganisms to protect its vineyards, to make the soil in which they grow fertile, to promote the productivity of the plants and to process its own wine with yeasts produced and selected by the owners, rigorously controlled in specialized laboratories.

The Andi company produces typical Oltrepò Pavese wines , whites, reds and also classic method sparkling wines with long refinement, from 48 to 60 months (but it also has reserve sparkling wines with much longer refinement).
In the company, by appointment, it is possible to arrange to visit the vineyards, the cellar and buy the wines , but by the end of the year the opening of a tasting room is also planned, where meetings and events will be held periodically.
The Cellar is located on the hill, in Montù Beccaria in Oltrepo, in Frazione Moriano 48.
Azienda Agricola Cascina Macerina
The Azienda Agricola Cascina Macerina is an organic and biodynamic farm in Oltrepò Pavese, whose motto is “Nature as it should be”.
In the Oltrepò Pavese plain, in Bastida Pancarana, he dedicates himself to the cultivation of ancient stone-ground cereals with which he produces different types of bronze-drawn pasta, tomatoes that become delicious purees and also aromatic herbs, legumes.

In addition to wanting to offer genuine products, the intent of Cascina Macerina is also to bring back into fashion traditional and natural flavors, authentic flavors.
What can I say… it’s worth to arrange a visit, to get to know these producers and bring nature to the table.
