A view to the Oltrepò from the Big Bench

    Big Banch Oltrepopavese - Vivioltrepò

We have all heard of the Big Bench , that is, the Giant Benches born from the ingenious creativity of the artist Chris Bangle.
They are large panoramic benches of various colors, positioned in strategic points to stop and admire and photograph spectacular landscapes. With their grandeur, they make us feel a bit like woodland gnomes and therefore transmit that sense of lightheartedness typical of the fairy-tale world of children.
It is therefore not surprising that many are curious to see them, climb them, sit down and enjoy the view, in the middle of nature.

Are there Big Benches in Oltrepò Pavese ? The answer is yes, there are several!
And where are the Big Benches, exactly? Here they are:

    Big Bench n. 124
In Retorbido we have the first panoramic bench to be inaugurated in Oltrepò , in December 2020. A wonderful orange Giant Bench, a pleasant break to take, admiring our hills in all their beauty.

    Big Bench n. 139
It was installed in May 2021 in Codevilla , in the “Frazione Mondondone”.
It is the second Giant Bench positioned in the heart of our hills. Beautiful bench in two colors, orange and white. When the leaves of the vines change color and turn orange it is even more integrated into the land that hosts it.

    Big Bench n. 149
This Giant Bench in Calvignano is two-toned, red and white; the view of the vineyards in the area and also of the vast Po Valley is enchanting. It is very easy to reach because it is two minutes away from the road, but once you arrive, you already feel very far from the daily traffic.

    Big Bench n. 163
It is the Giant Fuchsia Bench installed in July 2021 in Casteggio .
It has a name: Farfalla, as it allows you to observe a beautiful butterfly-shaped vineyard owned by the Ballabio Winery. It is one of the most popular panoramic benches.

Big Bench n. 170 This Big Bench in a beautiful fiery red
It is located in Romagnese, in the “Frazione Praticchia” This Big Bench is colored with a beautiful fiery red.
It is located on the border between the “provincia di Pavia” and “provincia di Piacenza”, offering a magnificent view: of “Monte Penice”, the village of Romagnese and also the first landscapes of Piacenza.
A small oasis of peace where you can enjoy the “noise” of silence.

    Big Bench n. 198
This blue and white Giant Bench was placed in Mornico Losana – province of Pavia – last year, in April 2022. It is located in the Belvedere vineyard owned by the “Azienda Il Feudo Nico”.
It is truly beautiful to see yourself surrounded by vineyards and to be able to feel the connection with nature.

    Big Bench n. 247
It is located in Godiasco, in front of the “borgo di Gomo” . On clear days you can contemplate a truly extraordinary landscape that makes you feel part of the greatness of the earth: you can see Mount Penice and the Alps, from Monviso to Monte Rosa.
The light blue and white colors of this Big Bench blend the sky, the clouds and the distant snow-capped peaks.

    Big Bench n. 259
It is located in Val di Nizza, still in the “provincia di Pavia” and sitting on this white and blue Giant Bench allows you to look at the nearby villages and the surrounding hills.
Even just five minutes and you feel pervaded by a sensation of harmony and well-being.

Those who have not yet seen the Big Benches of the Oltrepò Pavese hills cannot miss them!
You absolutely must organize yourself and go and admire these wonderful works that bring us into contact with nature. Only in this way can you appreciate their majesty!

This is another good reason to visit the Oltrepò Pavese!
